Since Friday, we have been in a whirlwind it seems. A bit of let down tired that is for sure…
Can’t imagine why? Getting the boutique cranked out in 3 weeks was a lot of work (3 moms, 8 kids, and a few husbands thrown in there for the manly stuff), especially if you saw it ‘before‘ we converted it over.
Now that the store is open, we have been spending some time cleaning, resting, delighting ourselves with the customers as they come through. So nice to hear all the great feedback from them. The Stashettes feel pretty honored to carry the artwork we have AND be able to represent the artists here in our community. As I sit here now, we have 37 different artists represented in the store. Pretty cool huh? Even some are writing in their blogs about us, see here…
Our next hurdle you ask? Starting to find artists who would like to teach some classes! I am putting information together, and would love your feedback!
- What kind of classes are you interested in taking?
- What kind of classes are you interested in teaching?
- What fees should we pay the teachers?
- Class sizes?
Oh! Do I hear a challenge or contest coming on? I will put my thinking cap on about it, and see what I can do for a contest. There is also our signage that needs work! We need to do another folding sign for 2nd Street, and something above our window. Sigh, oh and the painting of the shingles outside. The list never ends it seems.
Okay, enough! I have to get back to work. We recieved more candy from Gretchen’s Creations today, so need to get it tagged! (For those that are local, we have more caramels in!!!
)
Thank you to all of you for posting comments & keeping up with my blogs. Your support has been so important to Laura, Rachael & myself.
Happy Summer!

You guys really worked your behinds off! It’s so nice to read about all the positive feedback you’re getting on the store. I’m going out of town, but will definitely be in when we get back.
The store looks so cheerful and I look forward to coming in and checking out all the different pieces you have available.
As for classes…. beading/jewelry making, watercolor painting (notecards?)…
Candy?! Did you say caramel?! I will definitely have to stop by for the candy alone! LOL
Have a spectacular summer! See you soon.

Hi! I went in there this week and was in awe of the transformation. It is a nice place to come in and just even be inspired! I loved the curtains. I also asked permission to take some pictures of the store so I can send them to family. I have some in town and also others coming to visit for the summer so I am spreading the word to go into your store.
I was also delighted to see you had Gretchen’s Confections in your store. I met her at the Holly Days Bazaar and Farmer’s Market and never could pass up fudge her daughter Abby would be selling. LOL!
Well have a great week and will be in to say hello again soon.

1. Classes I’d want to take: knitting, sewing, jewelry making, bead making, stained glass art, painting, pottery. I am truly not ‘crafty’ at all but if I found a place that I could take classes (in my price range), I’d LOVE it.
2. I’m not crafty, I couldn’t teach anything. In CA schools, I AM the art teacher for my students and it’s a struggle for me. In fact, if your store were HERE in Fresno, I’d suggest having classes for elementary teachers to help them implement art instruction in their classrooms.
3. Pay???? I am on such a tight budget that I can’t afford to pay for much of anything right now, but I feel strongly that artisans should be paid for their time.
4. Small groups make it easier for learners to get 1:1 time but larger class size might make it more affordable.
* A local Yoga place (very small facility run by a mother/daughter team) just hooked up with the yarn store people that I think I’ve mentioned to you in the past. They started a combined Beginners Yoga & Knitting Night this week. I couldn’t go but wanted to. My friend, Gudrun, went and LOVED it. They did an hour of Yoga followed by time to knit. Some women had NEVER done Yoga before and some women had never knitted before so they all shared their knowledge and helped one another. Thought you might like the idea for the future. Gudrun is a master knitter & designer (she’s the cover design for http://www.knitty.com for the summer issue) but she says she gets stiff from sitting and knitting so long and the yoga really helped her back/body. They were going to do a 4 week introduction but everyone asked them to extend it on the first week. Lots of interest and great reviews from everyone.
