Art Bras:

The time has come for us to think about Breast Cancer Awareness month here at The Stash!  Last year we were part of the window decorating contest, and this year we will feature a silent auction of Artful Bras, made by our fabulous Fairbanks artists!  🙂  Is this something you are interested to participate in?  Please let us know, we are open to accepting Art Bras from you too!

What is an Art Bra you ask???
“An art bra is basically an artistically decorated bra; an embellished bra. Art bras are fun – they are popular items for artists to make for Breast Cancer fundraisers. What you do is take a regular bra – usually padded – and cover it with fabric or beads or paint – or all three plus whatever else comes to mind. Some art bras have a theme, some are serious, some are funny, some are just decorated and given a name.”  Ask the Crafter

Please contact us for more information, as well as to sign up!  We need to have a good picture of how many bras we will be working with.  This will be our featured medium for October First Friday, and BCDC of Fairbanks will be the recipients of our October Non-Profit.  All proceeds from the silent auction of these bras will be donated to them.

noseSniff, Sniff, Sniff

Can you smell that?

Yep, I think I can…

Smells a bit like spring, with a potential for summer here in Fairbanks…

nose1Sniff, sniff, sniff

Yep, that is what that is!

So what are WE going to do about it?  The Stash is having a sale, a May Sale!  Starting May 1st you will have to come and see for yourself what the artists are marking down.  We have been talking & chatting, walking the floor, looking at art, and these artists are bringing some prices down just for YOU!

This is the out with winter & in with summer sale!

Mark your calendars, as this stuff won’t last long.  🙂

7 days and counting…

Somewhere this week Rachael & I both lost a day.  All day we were convinced it was actually Thursday.  Maybe that is denial at it’s finest.  Not sure.  Poor Laura had to correct us, as she is the only one on time & with the correct date.

I was so off today, that I even missed my parents Anniversary!  So by the time I was straight here in Alaska, it was way past time to call Oklahoma.  Note: call parents first thing in the morning.  🙂  Hopefully they will forgive me.

There are some nifty things coming in the store that I do know!  So far we have:

  • Plushy dolls
  • Fancy dolls
  • Linoleum prints
  • Watercolor paintings
  • Watercolor print cards
  • Handmade cards
  • Dog scarves
  • Covered journals
  • Gemstone necklaces
  • Felted pincushions

And soooo much more that is already there, and more that is on it’s way…

Fixtures are rolling in, so the room is taking shape a bit more too.  The next 7 days will be filled with moving/hauling/sorting/etc.

Thanks for following along on the journey!  I hope that if you are in town on Friday June 6th from 5-9 p.m. that you can take some time to stop by…

As I lay awake from 2-6 a.m. last night all I could think about were names!

Nice huh?

I came to the conclusion that my brain is not very ‘snappy’ in the cool name department.  So I am BEGGING for you help.  🙂  PLEASE!!!  Save me from my nights of sleeplessness…

So here goes!  I need some really cool-catchy names for my items that I have listed on Etsy.  I noticed that lots of the other sellers are very whimsical in theirs.  Here are the items listed and my dreary names…

Now if you are not familiar with my bags, their shape stays relatively the same, their fabrics and accessories change.  If you needed to know that?  🙂

I have also been toying with the name for the shop, if and when it comes to be.   Mostly because it is too cumbersome for me to refer to it as the ’boutique/lounge/classroom thing’.  I would like something descriptive about its nature.  Some of the ideas that I keep coming back to are:

  • Simply handmade
  • (Something) handmade
  • All handmade

I guess you can get the picture that my brain is NOT good with names.  🙂  So I am begging all of you, my dear cyber-friends, to help me come up with a name.  What is in it for you, you ask????  How about a brand new tote bag?  Made by little old me?  You can even pick your colors – OR – it can be a surprise to you!  Your choice…  So let the games begin, I guess I am actually starting a CONTEST

So let’s give it a deadline of Saturday, January 19th.

Cheers!  🙂
