This is intense…  I am fully aware that I am not a ‘cutting edge’ mama, but who knew about this group?  Have you heard of them?  See what happens when you eliminate television from your household (yes it has been 18 months now)?  Things like this happen & I am caught completely unaware!

The Alpha Mom, even the title sounds scary to me.  I have posted several links at the bottom for your own reading pleasure, but the gist of the Alpha Mom is one who ‘can’ do everything!  Apparently these mothers don’t starve themselves like in Stressorexia.  🙂 Now to the good stuff.  From what I gathered Alpha Moms are:

…becoming a marketing phenomenon. Alpha Moms are educated, tech-savvy, Type A moms with a common goal: mommy excellence. She is a multi-tasker. She is kid-centric. She is hands-on. She may or may not work outside the home, but at home, she views motherhood as a job that can be mastered with diligent research.

…An Alpha Mom typically has money to spend, and — key for marketers — she is, as the label implies, a leader of the pack who influences how other moms spend.

Is there anyone out there that finds this a bit disturbing?  There are entire marketing campaigns geared towards mothers to ‘buy’ stuff (cars, games, electronics, appliances, etc.).  My question is, is it stuff that they have to have or just want?  Also, are we just creating a culture of kids who say “I want….”

Now I am all for networking, do it daily as a matter of fact.  But most of my information that I am passing a long is contact/direction based.  Who has the best camps for kids?  What preschool would you recommend?

My mind is muddled now as to ‘if’ I have become one of them… If so, I am still waiting to hear from Toyota!  🙂  I drive a Toyota Sienna and this is the BEST family/kid friendly auto out there, I LOVE mine…  There now does that make me an official Alpha Mom?  Hee Hee Hee
